Article Abstract:
A survey of 65 small property firms in the UK found that 86% were happy with their banks compared to a cross-sector average of 77%. Property companies have infrequent meetings with their banks; just 9% of the companies meet their banks on a monthly basis and 19% meet only annually. Communication quality has improved, with banks now making a more intensive analysis of the companies and providing more information. The survey showed that the most popular bank with property companies is Barclays, used by 34% of the 65 firms, and that 57% of the firms anticipated raising finance during 1997.

CIN property arm closer to sale
Article Abstract:
Coal industry pension fund CIN is making available a five-year management contract for its property division, which manages all the fund's commercial property holdings, worth 1.5 billion pounds sterling. It is believed that the contract is most likely to go to Baring Houston and Saunders, which has been looking to gain more third-party fund management work in Europe and the US. The trustees of CIN are likely to insist on a commitment to retain existing staff.
