Many of the UK's leading contractors have sold off their property activities over recent years, having been badly affected by the collapse in property prices. However, this is not the case at Taylor Woodrow, according to property chairman Keith Egerton. Its property division has its own housebuilding operation, and the company owns six modern shopping centres, including the 275,000 sq ft Cascades in Portsmouth. It is is also involved in some speculative industrial development.

Article Abstract:
J. Saville Gordon (JSG) was founded as a metal processor in 1953 by chairman John Saville and is based in the Midlands of England. Following a government tax rebate of 2 million pounds sterling, the company began its first foray into the property market in 1981 and since then has built up a property portfolio worth around 125 million pounds sterling. In 1993, JSG was reclassified by the Stock Exchange as a property company. A profile of JSG is presented.
