Evils of mass production
Article Abstract:
It is possible to question whether purchasers of property advisory services in the UK will benefit from mergers between property consultants. The use of mass-production techniques in property advisory service provision is not really in the interests of either providers of capital or occupiers. Large merged operations may only be able to work for a small number of large clients or in specialized areas, and this means that they are not really offering a full professional service. The best property advisers are those really motivated by the overall interests of their client.

Who wants to be an auctioneer?
Article Abstract:
Young surveyors should be encouraged to enter auction competitions to give them an idea of the work involved as an auctioneer. Residential and commercial property sales through UK auctions were valued at around 491 million pounds sterling during Jan-Jun 1998. Many property sellers previously saw auctions as a last resort for properties which were hard to sell. They have become interested in auctions as a greater number of private purchasers are attending auctions and sales have to be completed within a set time.
