Facility development challenges in China
Article Abstract:
Real estate managers should prepare before entering China's real estate market to overcome barriers borne by the differences in politics, economy, culture and business practices. Although the facility development process in China is similar to the US in theory, the approach used by the Chinese is different. China does not focus on quality and detail and is not conscious about budgets and schedules as long as the project gets finished. The Chinese give more importance on five cultural concepts to govern their business such as feng shui, guo qing and guanxi.

Opportunities and challenges for U.S. developers in China
Article Abstract:
China's rapidly growing economy opens big opportunities for US companies, particularly for members of the real estate industry because of the high demand for both industrial and residential properties. To meet the demand, the Chinese government has expressed its interest in creating joint ventures with US investors and real estate developers. It has also created economic reforms to facilitate foreign investment in its real estate market. These include land reform, land use rights and the Urban Real Estate Management Law that was enacted on Jan. 1, 1995.

The Mexican real estate market: a long-term outlook ripe with opportunities for the savvy
Article Abstract:
Mexico presents investors with opportunities to invest in its real estate markets as the country slowly recovers from its financial crisis. The country's markets mirror the US' own real estate markets when businesses failed during the financially depressed early 1980s. The signs of growth of the Mexican economy became evident in 1996, which included economic reforms such as pension-fund services, debtor support and mortgage programs, community participation in real estate, and improvements in development transactions and construction activity.
