Hold on, that's my land
Article Abstract:
The UK government are looking at ways of preventing landowners forfeiting their land as permitted under the 1980 Limitation Act. The Law Commission are reviewing consultation documents and will issue a draft bill by the end of 1999. The new bill is likely to lead to more landowners registering all of their land but it will not take away land from squatters where a claim for adverse possession has already gone ahead. Under the Limitation Act 1980 landowners lose their right to land if there has been adverse possession against them for over 12 years.

Rates of exchange
Article Abstract:
The increasing use of electronic technology for transactions may have implications for conveyancing which will allow the process to be organised in much less time. The UK Law of Property (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1989, section 2, calls for written contracts which must be signed by both parties. The procedure can lead to long periods of inactivity. The UK government is considering the use of electronic commerce and is planning, some time in the future, to introduce a Secure Electronics Communications Bill.
