Hong Kong's No. 2 man paints shifting Asia-Pacific
Article Abstract:
Hong Kong's No. 2 man in the provisional government, C.Y. Leung, advised corporate real estate managers attending the IDRC Asia-Pacific regional World Congress in Hong Kong that they must not be swayed by media reports of instability in the Asia-Pacific property and business climate. Leung states that the region's desire to attract investments is mitigated by the clamor of citizens for more protection in corporate real estate acquisitions, which is the main source of the reports of 'instability'. Leung states that the region's need alone for foreign investments is enough incentive for companies to relocate to the region.

Committee report: inventing the future in the age of 'unreal' estate
Article Abstract:
The fundamental changes in the real estate industry will spawn the emergence of a new corporate structure and a new way of behavior, according to a report of the Real Estate Industry Review Committee presented during the Industrial Development Research Council's World Congress in Nashville, TN. Strong leadership, analytical and communication skills will be the keys to survival in this age of 'unreal' estate, with its dysfunctional effects on both corporate real estate departments and real estate service providers. Fundamental changes affecting the real estate industry have sparked a reassessment of the role of corporate real estate professionals and industry service providers.
