In search of the holy grail
Article Abstract:
There is a need for a more advanced approach to marketing in the UK property industry. A successful marketing campaign must reflect the goals of all parties involved in the property development process. It is generally advisable to err on the side of simplicity, but it is worth considering the use of multi-media, a format to which property is particularly suited. The printed brochure remains the basis for marketing in the property industry, but it must be accompanied by other forms of marketing, including direct mail and advertising.

Improving the system - the Bayliss Report
Article Abstract:
The RICS has recently published the Bayliss Report 'Improving the Rating system.' This is the result of the deliberations of a working group formed to discuss the problems with the existing rating system and to recommend improvements. One of the main conclusions of the report is that many of the difficulties of the rating system are caused by the appeal process. It has identified ways in which the rating system for business premises and other non-domestic property can be improved.
