Grounds for dissent
Article Abstract:
Orbit Developments and Morrison Developments are both keen to undertake a leisure or mixed-use development on the 6.1 ha Earl's Road site between Wilmslow, England, and Macclesfield, England. Orbit has submitted two planning applications relating to its existing Lyme Green Business Park to the south of Wilmslow, England. The first has been rejected, while the second, including retail space and a six-screen cinema, will shortly go to public inquiry. Work is still going on at Orbit's Tytherington Business Park north of Macclesfield, England.

Unstable foundations
Article Abstract:
Property development work in Northwich, England, is being hampered by the fact that the town is constructed on extensive rock salt reserves. Investors are unwilling to make a commitment to sites where there could be problems with land stability in the future. There will be no large-scale retail investment in the town in the foreseeable future, even though the major retailers present there are keen to obtain larger units. The only large trading estate area is the 34.4 ha Gadbrook Park, which is fully let.
