Sorting its space
Article Abstract:
Recent deals for new space for the Post Office have boosted confidence in the commercial property markets in the Essex town of Chelmsford, where problems have been caused by the decline of traditional manufacturing industries. Efforts are being made to maintain industrial land in and around the town centre, with a number of sites having been zoned for industrial use. However, there is little movement in the office property sector, and rents remain low.

Paradise postponed
Article Abstract:
The Essex town of Colchester has had only limited success in attracting new occupiers, even though it has fewer greenbelt limitations than Essex towns closer to London. The property market remains weak, with many retailers experiencing difficulties. There is plenty of land available for new developments, but many of these are now unlikely to go ahead.
