Matthew Clark are planning to move their alcoholic beverage distribution operation into one centralized warehouse in the South West of England. They hope to to improve delivery times and reduce expenditure by the move. The 300,000 sq ft warehouse is located near Avonmouth, England, which will also be close to their breweries in Bristol and Shepton Mallet. The new building should be in operation by Feb 1998. Matthew Clark had a fall in profits by 40.6 million pounds sterling in the year before Apr. 30, 1997.

Bournemouth and Poole are redeveloping their waterfront areas so that they can attract visitors all year round. There has been a fall in the number of visitors to the seaside and hotels have already found new ways to fill rooms, making the town a leading conference venue, while pub operators are expanding. Multiplex operators are also interested in the inland towns. Sheridan Group is to launch an IMAX cinema in Bournemouth, and a surf-themed restaurant is being developed by Grist & Hot Rocks Surf Co.
