Property professionals and their perceptions
Article Abstract:
Recent research has used psychometric testing to compare the views of people in property-related professions regarding environmental issues with those of people from non-property-related backgrounds. The research looked in particular at contaminated land, comparing the views of the two groups on the damage which could be associated with land contamination. It was found that there was a close correlation between awareness of environmental issues in the general population and among people working in property-related professions.

Declarations of independence: The Hampel Report calls for transparent business relationships between non-executives and their boards and could prove awkward for some property advisers
Article Abstract:
The Hampel Committee report believes that non-executive directors should be free from businesses or relationships that could interfere with how they make their independent judgment. Boards will have to disclose which of their non-executive directors are independent with the new guidelines, which are expected to be included into the listing rules of the London Stock Exchange by the middle of 1998.
