RICS raises standards of fellowship qualification
Article Abstract:
Plans by the RICS to improve professional standards for surveyors will include linking fellowship status within the RICS to achievement rather than seniority. This could lead to a fall of up to two-thirds in the number of surveyors promoted from associate to fellow. Professional associates will now have to prove that they have reached a certain level of experience and management responsibility in order to gain fellowship membership.

All jolly good fellows
Article Abstract:
The RICS will from Jan 1996 operate stricter standards for awarding fellowship status to surveyors. Professional associates will no longer be promoted automatically to fellowship status after 12 years, but will instead have to provide evidence of a certain level of experience and managerial responsibility. This is part of plans to improve the general public image of surveyors.
