Talking about a rental revolution
Article Abstract:
The UK government is predicting that inflation will be only 2-4% a year for the next five years, becoming much more stable than it has been for a long time. Against this background, renting a home rather than buying one could become more attractive, as could buying a home as a rental investment. People are no longer very eager to buy a home in the hope of gaining from future price rises, and some owners are now renting out their homes while waiting for prices to rise enough for them to be able to sell.

Tax treatment of owner-occupied housing: an international comparison
Article Abstract:
This article compares owner-occupied housing taxation in the US, Australia, the UK, Canada, Sweden, France, Japan, Germany and Italy. Even though each nation has a national income tax, the computation of the owner-occupied housing tax is different. The comparison was done by noting the similarities in each tax system through the computation of capital costs and the marginal effective tax rate.
