The future is in hand
Article Abstract:
Pen-driven computers have the potential to play a very useful role in the survey process. They allow one-handed data entry, and can be used for drawing sketches or changes to existing CAD drawing files. Surveying firms using pen-driven computers can make cost savings because they allow less experienced surveyors to work more efficiently, thus reducing the need for experienced surveyors to be used on survey work. These computers make it possible for the surveyor to gain a rapid overview of data on site, as well as giving more time on site for detailed analysis instead of description.

Black day for valuers as BBL ruling overturned
Article Abstract:
The UK Court of Appeal has decided that a surveyor was negligent in a move which concerns surveyors since it includes an element for changes in the real estate market. The case involves Banque Bruxelles Lambert against Eagle Star. The surveyor was John D Wood, and the case refers to three properties in London, England, surveyed in 1989. The bank argued that it would not have lent money if it had known of the correct value of the property. Surveyors are concerned that their insurance cover may not be enough.
