Article Abstract:
Employer/employee relationships have evolved since WWII to a point where profitable companies downsize their workforces to boost profits, a situation that has eroded the job security of US workers. The change in labor relations has had an impact on the domestic real estate market as it has led to an increase in home-based businesses. These changes impact the usage of living, work and retail space and on real estate investment returns. Demand for office space is depressed by these labor changes, increase the risk of office building investments.
