Transportation equipment, industrial machinery sectors tops in '98
Article Abstract:
Facilities construction and expansion enjoyed stellar performance in 1998, although not as brilliant as that witnessed in 1997. A total of 6800 projects were recorded in Conway Data's New Plant database. This is slightly lower than the 7100 reported projects of 1997. The 4% decline has been attributed to the Asian economic crisis which had generated some project cancellations and postponements. The transportation equipment industry continued to lead in the number of projects. Other top ranking sectors were the industrial machinery, chemicals and rubber industries.
