Clothing retail company Wade Smith has expanded it operation into childrens fashion shops known as Wade Smith JNR, the first outlet opening in Liverpool in 1997. The company plans to extend the brand all over the UK and hopes to open eight more shops by 1999. They prefer to find premises of around 8,000 sq ft but in some areas will open stores of around 3,000 sq ft. The Wade Smith company started selling Adidas trainers in 1982 before moving into sportswear. In 1996 the company opened Outdoor Athletic a 15,000 sq ft shop in Liverpool.

It has a number of stores in traditional high street locations, but usually chooses shopping centre sites. Any new unit must offer at least 140 sq mt, with the optimum site offering 280 sq mt.
