Wealth of opportunity
Article Abstract:
A shortage of brownfield development sites could hamper plans to promote North Wales as a relocation area, although the granting of Objective I status by the European Union will guarantee financial assistance from March 1999. Up to 15% of foreign investment in the UK is channelled within the North Wales area, despite accommodating only 5% of the national population. The Welsh Development Agency is encouraging the relocation of blue-chip companies after loosing many jobs with the closure of coal and steel operations.
