Institutions question directors' options
Article Abstract:
UK property companies which run executive share option schemes often set targets which are too low, according to institutional investors. Directors are able to make large sums of money from share deals, and it is too easy to manipulate earnings figures to make the company appear more successful than it really is. Some companies use total shareholder returns as a target for their directors, but this is completely inappropriate, as directors cannot have direct control over share prices.
