Laos in 2004: Politically stability, economic opening
Article Abstract:
The Lao People's Democratic Republic made cautious progress during 2004, as the year witnessed increased stability and greater confidence that the country is moving forward. However, the international community remains concerned about the lack of transparency in politics and administration, and Laos has not succeeded in normalizing trade relations with the United States.

Failed economic take-offs and terrorism in Pakistan: Conceptualizing a proper role for U.S. assistance
Article Abstract:
The successful implementation of reforms, political stability and use of foreign aid towards development of Pakistan will play an important role in decreasing youth's attractiveness towards terrorism. The efficient use of public financial resources to boost economic growth and various causes of terrorism are analyzed.

Laos in 2005: 30 Years of the people's Democratic Republic
Article Abstract:
The Lao People's Democratic Republic celebrated its 30th birthday in 2005. However, the government happens to be stable, although dissent is repressed, and minorities express persistent concerns about their treatment.
