Nepal in 2003: another failed chance for peace
Article Abstract:
The replacement of the Deuba government by King Gyanendra was expected to bring democracy and peace in Nepal in the near future, however, it failed to achieve its target due to lack of cooperation from various parties. The introduction of a peace process with the Maoist insurgents was considered a positive approach of the government, but the process failed before its commencement.

Nepal in 2002: emergency and resurrection of royal power
Article Abstract:
Nepal faced further setbacks on the political front in 2002 and civil war continued despite the declaration of the state of emergency. The war was accompanied by neglected human rights, dissolution of Parliament, replacement of the democratically elected local bodies, split in the Nepali Congress (NC) party and the delay of general elections.
