Homo narrans across the disciplines
Article Abstract:
The rise of interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary studies has reaffirmed the essential value of the narrative, a basic material of folklore studies. As scholars trained in other disciplines make more use of the narrative, folklorists should share their views on this issue. Specifically, folklorists should become more involved with communications studies programs and publications.

The methods to understand the web of cultural texts that influenced the vernacular photography of hunting in the United States are discussed. An example of ways to read a particular genre of vernacular photograph for the social and cultural history they capture is offered.
