Racing from the bottom in South Korea? The nexus between civil society and transnational migrants
Article Abstract:
The interdependent relationship between South Korea's transnational migrant workers and civil society is crucial to slow the nation's economic downturn. Globalization encourages government to hire the cheapest workers and weaken regulations protecting the environment, health, and safety, yet a network of Korean non-governmental organizations have come to promote migrant labor rights.

Hong Kong citizens' beliefs in media neutrality and perceptions of press freedom: Objectivity as self-censorship?

Press-freedom, a tradition of post-handover Hong Kong has been observed and media professionalism and journalism objectivity - as double-edged, on one side a measure of self-defense against political pressure and on the other hand neutrality and detachment can lead to avoidance of responsibility, thus serving as a critic and watchdog.
