On the Paredes-Simmons exchange and the origins of the Corrido
Article Abstract:

Simmons engaged in an almost forgotten exchange on the origins and development of the corrido (1963) where Paredes objected to Simmons' suggestion that the corrido had emerged directly from the Spanish ballad or romance.
