A boorish bigmouth who likes champagne and Guinness benders. Would you trust him with 80m pounds sterling?
Article Abstract:
Venture capital firm Apax Partners has expressed its willingness to support Ginger Productions, owned by Capital Radio disk jockey Chris Evans, in its bid to merge with Capital Radio. It is believed that Apax will make available the 80 million pounds sterling required, receiving in return a share in Ginger, which is worth 30 million pounds sterling. Evans has a rather unusual lifestyle, and some observers believe that he may not qualify as a fit and proper person to hold a commercial radio licence, as required by the Radio Authority.

From Gateshead to Belarus on the airwaves
Article Abstract:
Centre FM, founded by former BBC sound engineer Lawrence Galkoff, has been very successful with running radio stations on short-term licences at leading UK shopping centres, especially in the pre-Christmas period. These stations can provide very detailed information about local facilities, but also have a reasonably large potential audience. Centre FM is now hiring out its facilities to other operators. British Services Broadcasting, for example, is using Centre FM's equipment for broadcasts to Bosnia in Jan 1998.
