A climate for change
Article Abstract:
UK Prime Minister Tony Blair seems to be adopting an approach to environmental policy which goes beyond mere propaganda. It is possible that the UK government has now realized that it is not possible to combine high consumption and environmental protection, the approach which has formed the basis of environmental policies in the past. If this is the case, then environmental policy will begin to have an impact on the lifestyles and assumptions of ordinary people.

That dangerous warrior queen
Article Abstract:
Former prime minister Margaret Thatcher no longer has an influential role in political life in the UK. However, she still attracts attention for her views on the present Conservative government. Her words are constantly converted into a weapon by one or other of the factions within the Conservative party, and for this reason she has a damaging impact on the party as a whole. She is now playing a role in the party's collapse as the party of government.

The Lady's not for copying, Tony
Article Abstract:
Labour party leader Tony Blair has been very flattered by comparisons made between him and former prime minister Margaret Thatcher. There are indeed some similarities between their characters, including welcoming confrontation and regarding politics as an exercise of will. However, Tony Blair should be cautious about following her example too closely, as he would do much better to be more original.
