A funny thing happened on TV...
Article Abstract:
Comedy cable channel Paramount is having a significant impact on comedy television programming in the UK. Paramount has shown a strong ability to make programmes in a cost-effective way and to identify new comedy talent. This has allowed it to sell or co-produce more than 10 new comedy programmes so far in 1998 across Channels 4 and 5 and ITV. However, there is a strong awareness that comedians may only have a limited television career, as they must constantly come up with new material if their act is not to date rapidly.
