Critics cold-shoulder deal on global warming
Article Abstract:
Delegates at the Berlin international conference on climate change have reached an agreement on global warming which includes a mandate to developed countries to establish targets, and plans for reaching these targets, by 1997. However, there has also been some criticism because no agreement was reached on a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions as part of a scheme for dealing with global warming.

China looks forward to levelling the score
Article Abstract:
It is only relatively recently that it has come to widely accepted that Hong Kong really will revert to Chinese rule on from Jul 1997. The pace of change there has accelerated dramatically as the final year of British rule approaches, and mainland China is already preparing extensive celebrations. In Hong Kong itself, feelings about reverting to Chinese rule are still much more mixed.
