The late Mary Whitehouse, who campaigned against sex and bad language on television, was generally not taken seriously by those in authority. Television has now become extremely populist, and this may be even more damaging to children than sex and bad language. The world promoted by Mary Whitehouse was at least one of decency and civilization.
