A natural form of therapy
Article Abstract:
Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) is thought to affect as many as 2.5 million people in the UK, and has become particularly common as the long hot summer ends suddenly with wet autumn weather. Gardening can be a particularly effective way of dealing with the symptoms of this condition. Gardens are extremely attractive in autumn, with plants which were damaged by the heat of the summer now becoming green and moist again. Gardening makes people very aware of the strong differences between the seasons, and highlights the ability of nature to cope with many different conditions.

Cherishing Mother Earth
Article Abstract:
Proper care of the soil is vital to gardening success. It is vital to add large quantities of humus to the soil if a perfect loam in which plants can really thrive is to be achieved. The easiest approach is to mulch heavily over the surface of the soil, and the humus is then dragged underground by earthworms. Chemical fertilisers should be avoided, as the create soil which relies too heavily on them.
