A scream for our times
Article Abstract:
Both Edvard Monch's 'The Scream' and Leonardo da Vinci's 'Mona Lisa' are among the very few works that have become part of the general consciousness. Many more people visit the 'Mona Lisa' than visit 'The Scream,' but in fact the 'Mona Lisa' is a disappointment. This work requires restoration to return it to its full glory, but the authorities dare not do this for fear of criticism. 'The Scream' is a much stronger work, and it is possible that the Norwegians are right to claim that more people identify with it than with the 'Mona Lisa.'

Myths that leave a sinking feeling
Article Abstract:
There are many different stories about the sinking of the Titanic in Apr 1912, according to Gunther Babler, historian for an exhibition in Hamburg, Germany, entitled 'Expedition Titanic.' He has worked very hard to make sense of the varied accounts of what happened, and has even gone as far as to try to read everything that has ever been written about the Titanic. He feels that the fact that there are conflicting accounts has helped to make the Titanic disaster an event that continues to attract interest.
