A soap-box in cyberspace
Article Abstract:
There is a long history of lively open-air speaking in the UK, especially in Hyde Park, London, England. This tradition has come under strong pressure over recent years as community relations have broken down and people prefer to remain in their own home, watching unrealistic representations of life on the television. The future for open-air speaking looks bleak, but lively public debate could continue in other forms. In particular, many people are exchanging views electronically via the Internet.

There's a whole lot of 'effing' going on
Article Abstract:
The Internet offers great potential for communicating with the individual, according to Japanese composer Ryuichi Sakamoto. He developed a strong interest in electronic music as a teenager, and has always been keen to unite a range of different music styles. He made his first Internet broadcast in 1995, and has done several more Internet broadcasts since then. He has recently remixed two movements of 'Untitled 01' as he seeks to further develop the potential of the Internet.
