Adoringly, the Lady praised him for bringing democracy to Chile
Article Abstract:
Baroness Thatcher has expressed praise for former Chilean dictator General Augusto Pinochet, stating that he established a constitution suitable for democracy in Chile. She has apparently overlooked the fact that Pinochet headed a regime under which many people were kidnapped, tortured and murdered. She has also thanked Pinochet for his assistance during the Falklands war. Those who were victims of torture under the Pinochet regime have expressed regret at her stance.
