After a century, we've produced the stressed out, cooped up battery child
Article Abstract:
Children in Britain are better educated, healthier and wealthier than at the start of the 20th century, but their social and emotional well-being have deteriorated. High divorce rates and an unstable family life, as well as having to stay indoors are factors affecting children. There are variations, with children from richer families with two parents better off than those from poorer families with one parent. Road accidents have replaced disease as the main danger for children. A third of children lived in poverty in 1994 compred with a tenth in 1971.

Welcome to Wales, ma'am
Article Abstract:
Most Welsh people do not feel hostile towards the Royal Family, even if they are committed nationalists. However, there is now much greater pride in Welshness than there was in 1969, when Prince Charles was invested as titular Prince of Wales. The Welsh national spirit is now being clearly expressed, and there is a sense of relief and excitement surrounding the creation of the Welsh Assembly. The monarch's duties in Wales are currently allegorical, but within a few generations they will be merely ornamental.
