Britain and America march towards a battle the Arabs do not want
Article Abstract:
Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein is very philosophical about the prospect of military action against his country by the US and the UK, according to Jordanian opposition leader Leith Shubailath. He believes that the US embargo has become a weapon of mass murder in Iraq and that the Iraqi people are being punished because they have become able to handle high technology. His views are partly shared by others in the Arab world, who believe that military action against Iraq would make it impossible to establish peace in the Middle East.

Once again, it's the world's most serious confrontation
Article Abstract:
Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein is deliberately coming into conflict with the United Nations Security Council, realizing that he can exploit the fact that US credibility in the Middle East is at very low levels and that no Arab country will accept another attack on Iraq. Arab refusal to assist the US is being fuelled by the fact that Israel continues to extend Jewish settlements in occupied Palestinian land. It is now time for Europe to consider whether it really wishes to tolerate US policy in the Middle East, with its associated confrontations, any longer.
