Cook plea falls on deaf ears as Serb police blitz villages
Article Abstract:
It is believed that several dozen people have been killed in attacks by Serbian police on Albanian villages in the province of Kosovo, Serbia. UK Foreign Secretary Robin Cook has been unable to persuade the Serbs to abandon their repression of ethnic Albanians in the region. Both Albanians and Serbs are now fleeing Kosovo, but there are reports that Serb police are not allowing people to leave the Drenica region, where the worst of the violence has taken place.
