Ordinary French people seem quite unshocked by the revelation that participants in the Tour de France cycle race have been taking performance-enhancing drugs. However, the French authorities have reacted very firmly, and this has prompted a number of teams to withdraw from the race. Some leading journalists are now calling for the race to be abandoned, as its credibility has been destroyed. This view is not shared by ordinary French people, for whom the race is a symbol of national pride.

She claims to be tired of the Indian media's focus on her glamorous image, but she also makes use of this image as a marketing ploy.

Some feel that they were deliberately used as guinea pigs to allow scientists to assess the impact of radiation on humans.
