The new approach to teacher education
Article Abstract:
The Open University is the largest single provider of new teachers in the UK. Its initial teacher training programme produces around 1,000 new teachers each year. Most of these have already gained experience of a different profession. The Open University's Post Graduate Certificate in education programme is designed to be flexible, thus being suitable for students who have other commitments, and also places strong emphasis on the use of information technology.
