European union? Not among lawyers
Article Abstract:
Europe's lawyers are determined to retain their separate national identities, despite efforts by the European Union to introduce harmonisation in other sectors. Business lawyers still have very different views on regulation and client rights, and clients in cross-border transactions are often very disappointed to find that they were wrong to assume that all lawyers operate in a similar way. It is very unlikely that Europe's lawyers will ever agree to a single system of regulation.

Article Abstract:
Many UK companies fail to make proper use of accounting data, having no mechanisms for converting it into meaningful information which can serve as a basis for decision-making. Many software companies are now responding to this problem by encouraging the more extensive use of the executive information system (EIS), a type of computer application. The increasing use of high-tech PC and Unix networks means that such systems can be used even by small and medium-sized concerns.
