Ever so carefully, Mr Blair clears the way for a ground invasion
Article Abstract:
UK Prime Minister Tony Blair is taking the lead on Nato military action against Serbia in Kosovo, Yugoslavia, in the absence of leadership from the US. He is gradually shifting the Allies towards agreeing to a ground invasion of Kosovo, if and when it appears that the Serbian forces are sufficiently weakened to make this feasible. Extensive diplomatic activity is now taking place to try to ensure that Nato does not become divided on this issue.

Mr Blair is right to demand results in return for public money
Article Abstract:
UK Prime Minister Tony Blair is extremely focused on results. For this reason, he becomes very frustrated when it appears that change is not taking place very quickly. However, it is becoming apparent that quick fixes do not in themselves resolve problems such as the funding of the National Health Service or improving standards in public service delivery. This issue is becoming increasingly important as government ministers begin to consider the new public spending settlement they would like before the next general election.
