Forget icebergs, let his escalator art take you for a ride
Article Abstract:
An exhibition of the work of US conceptualist Lawrence Weiner entitled 'Towards Motion' is currently being staged at The Rotunda, a shopping centre in east London, England. Generally, those visiting the shopping centre are unaware of Weiner's work, but there are occasional glimpses of changes he has made to the centre's normal surroundings. Weiner focuses on filling in gaps, and believes that his art can help people to understand their relationship with the world.

I am art, therefore I am
Article Abstract:
The South London Gallery in London, England, is currently staging an exhibition of the work of Gavin Turk, entitled 'The Stuff Show.' The works exhibited are very narcissistic in nature, as is typical of Turk. The key exhibit is a lifesize wax-work self portrait of Turk as Marat, dead in his bath. There is also another waxwork, 'Bum,' in which Turk is portrayed as a shabby homeless person. The most attractive works are Turk's neat, confident signatures.

Lovely Rita, meter maid
Article Abstract:
Relations between the US president and the country's Poet Laureate have improved over recent years. Rita Dove, who is now stepping down as Poet Laureate after two years, has not been afraid to call on president Bill Clinton to support the arts, but she has still been welcomed at the White House, unlike some of her predecessors. Her main role has been to promote poetry in public, rather than to write official poems for state engagements.
