As the economy begins to recover, hardware and home center retailers are optimistically preparing for the lawn and garden season. Even during the not-so-prosperous 1981, over half of retailers responding to a survey by Hardware Retailing reported increased sales of lawn and gardening merchandise and 40% had an increase in power equipment sales.
