Here's metal more attractive
Article Abstract:
A sense of collective spirit is vital for a successful opera company, according to Elaine Padmore, director of the Royal Danish Opera. The company now performs most works in their original language, and this means that guest singers can be brought in from abroad and young singers can work elsewhere. It is also important to develop an international outlook in ballet, according to Maina Gielgud, new director of the Royal Danish Ballet. She is looking to encourage talent dancers through exchanges with other companies.

Nuns and lovers: Puccin's women
Article Abstract:
Giacomo Puccini's 'Il Trittico' triptytch of one-act operas clearly reflects the composer's strong interest in women. The complete cycle, which covers 'Il Tabarro,' 'Suor Angelica' and 'Gianni Schicci,' has not attracted the attention of opera companies to any great extent, and his other works, including 'La Boheme' and 'Madama Butterfly,' are much more well-known. However, the English National Opera is undertaking a bold staging of the 'Il Trittico' cycle. One, 'Il Taborro,' has an all-female cast.
