Hillsborough ruling sparks families' fury
Article Abstract:
UK Home Secretary Jack Straw has announced that the government has decided not to undertake a new public inquiry into the incident at Sheffield Wednesday's Hillsborough football ground on Apr 15, 1989, in which 96 Liverpool fans died. This follows the publication of a study indicating that there was no evidence to justify reopening the case. This decision has been strongly criticised by relatives of the victims, who had been hoping that it would be possible to bring criminal prosecutions against police officers who were criticized in the original report into the disaster.

Connoisseur and his Fagin are jailed for 2 million pound sterling art robberies
Article Abstract:
Richard Lucas and Thomas Atkinson have been jailed for art robberies carried out over six years and involving art objects worth 2.1 million pounds sterling from private homes, historic houses and museums. Lucas appears to have been motivated by his love of possessing art objects, while Atkinson was more motivated by cash. Several truck loads of objects were found in Lucas' rented apartment in London, England, in 1996. Lucas was a millionaire, miser and obsessive record keeper, and his records provided evidence for the police.
