Home-grown and proud of it
Article Abstract:
The spring/summer 2000 collections shown at the 1999 London Fashion Week were very impressive. Markus Lupfer, in only his second season as an independent designer, produced some very attractive items, including leather skirts stamped with the outlines of psychedelic blooms. Robert Cary-Williams showed dresses with fluorescent zippers instead of seams, while Brian Kirby and Zowie Broach retained their signature style for Boudicca while producing a slightly more commercial collection.

A frock to go with your bag, Madam?
Article Abstract:
There was very strong emphasis on accessories at the recent fashion shows in Paris, France, for spring and summer 2000. Valentino showed many handbags, while Louis Vuitton extended its already strongly accessory-led range with baseball caps, monogrammed visors and other items. Overall, the collections seemed to lack inspiration, with a strong emphasis on trends from the late 1970s and early 1980s. However, there were some exceptions, including Rei Kawakubo of Comme des Garcons.
