Semion Mogilevich has been described as an evil genius, controlling an international crime synidate from his Hungarian base. He has allegedly been involved in a large-scale money laundering operation, 'The New York Times' claims. He is alleged to be dealing in prostitution, nuclear materials, stolen art works, precious gems, and narcotics, and has used Bank of New York facilities. The bank has stated that it has cooperated with the authorities and is not seen as having been involved in wrongdoing.

Scottish businessman Ron McCulloch is the driving force behind Home, a seven-storey 'superclub' due to open shortly in Leicester Square, London, England. McCulloch is hardly known at all outside Glasgow, Scotland, and some observers have questioned whether he is sufficiently familiar with the club scene in London to make the new venture successful. However, he is known to have a talent for moulding each of his venues to the demands of their particular market.
