How outing came in with a vengeance
Article Abstract:
The policy of 'outing,' or revealing the names of, gay people in public positions, is not one which is central to the activities of OutRage!, which is more concerned with the age of gay consent and reforming other anti-homosexual statutes. However, outing has attracted the most media attention, and remains a controversial issue. It has certainly been effective, having forced several leading public figures to admit to being gay, and has also served to highlight the complex nature of sexual and political hypocrisy.

In the treetops, awaiting chainsaws
Article Abstract:
Some anti-road protesters in the UK have become quite professional in their approach, moving around to various locations where housing and fields are threatened by new roads. The latest point of confrontation is in Darwen, Lancashire, where around 20 protesters are squatting in five derelict terraced houses, hoping to prevent, or at least delay, the construction of a 12-mile extension to the M65. In some cases, protesters are even living in tree-houses, which have been fitted out for a long vigil.

A prince condemned to the scaffolding
Article Abstract:
The Albert Memorial was erected in 1872 as a memorial to the 1851 Great Exhibition. It needs over 8 million pounds sterling of conservation work plus more for restoration. Scaffolding was put round it in 1991 for examination but the Department of National Heritage decided it could not afford the repairs. Westminster Council, English Heritage and the Department of National Heritage will provide security and mothball the monument.
