How to turn nightmares into sleeping beauties
Article Abstract:
It is quite common in the UK for young children to suffer severe sleep problems. These problems can cause stress and anxiety for the rest of the family, and can also lead to long-term behavioural difficulties in the child itself. Sleep problems often arise because the child has not been taught to sleep properly by its parents from a very early age. Medication can be effective as a short-term emergency treatment, but the best option is behavioural therapy, which involves both the child and the parents being re-educated about sleeping.

Your sister could save your life. Luckily, she wants to ...
Article Abstract:
The best way of treating someone suffering from leukaemia is with a bone marrow transplant from a close relative. In some cases, this can mean that young children are faced with the difficult decision of whether to donate bone marrow to help their brother or sister. There are ethical issues associated with a child undergoing surgery for the benefit of somebody else, with some observers believing that a medical procedure should only be undertaken if it is in the best interests of the child concerned.

Lobotomy
Article Abstract:
Psychosurgery, in which radioactive rods are inserted into the patient's brain in order to kill tissue and cure depression, is still used to treat around 24 people in the UK every year. It remains a very controversial procedure, and is banned in a number of European countries and some US states. The practice, often called lobotomy, gained a very negative image in the 1940s, when it caused great damage to many people. However, many clinicians are now convinced of its effectiveness.
