Hull's windfall goes to rugby lovers who need double-glazing
Article Abstract:
Some residents of Hull, England, feel that they will not benefit at all from the local council's plans for using the money raised from the sale of shares in Kingston Communications, the local telephone network. A large proportion of the 220 million pounds sterling raised will be spent on a 'super-stadium' to replace the facility currently used by the town's rugby league and football clubs. A further 10 million pounds sterling will be used to install double glazing and central heating in 25,000 council houses. Local people who do not like rugby and do not live in a council house feel that their needs have been ignored.
