Article Abstract:
There is still considerable uncertainty about whether depleted uranium can cause serious damage to human health. The UK Atomic Energy Authority expressed concern in Apr 1991 about depleted uranium contamination in Kuwait, and depleted uranium shells used by the Allies in Iraq in 1997 seemed to lead directly to serious health problems among local people. It is vital that depleted uranium contamination in Kosovo, Yugoslavia, is cleared up before the Kosovars return home.
